Crimson Falls is a small town next to the Bloodied River. It is the last remaining place of civilization in the north, one of the few places where people survived the fall of the Nerathi Empire. Crimson Falls used to be an important border town. People here used to trade with the dwarves from the Ravaged Mountains, the fey creatures in the Forbidden Forest, and even barbarian tribes from the north. Most of this changed when the Empire fell. Today, Crimson Falls is the center of the Gray Barony and a source of protection for the surrounding farms and logging communities. The main reason that Crimson Falls still exits is its importance as a provider of food to the larger city of Kastaris to the south. The people from the Barony also fell trees and ship them south on the Bloodied. In exchange, Kastaris supports the Crimson Guard, the city watch of Crimson Falls, with equipment and training.
The people of Crimson Falls are proud, hardy, and gruff at times. They are used to living on the frontier, always in danger of being attacked by orcs, giants, barbarians or other beasts and monsters. They are not quick to make friends, but once their trust is earned, they are stout companions. Despite its distance to other centers of civilization, Crimson Falls has managed to uphold many traditions dating back to the old Empire. The city has a small community of artists, for example, and the citizens here are very well informed and keep up on the latest news from other cities and lands.
